Employee Giving

Arroyo Grande Community Hospital employees demonstrate generosity and kindness every day. By participating in the Employee Giving Campaign they join together to support all the ways we are making our community healthier. For many, it’s more than just an opportunity to contribute financially—it’s a personal expression of gratitude, empathy, and a commitment to making the workplace and community better. While there are several ways to give, many employees choose to join the Hour of Power and contribute one hour of their pay or one PTO hour each pay period.

Janis Portz, a long-time employee at AGCH exemplifies this spirit of giving. Working at AGCH for nearly three decades, she has seen firsthand the impact the hospital has on the local community. "We live in a small town, and our hospital truly serves our immediate community, with all its familiar faces," she says. For her, this isn’t just a job; it’s a personal ministry.

When asked why she gives, her answer is simple: "I know that even a small amount can mean the world to someone in need. That's why I give—I’ve been that person in need, and when you're given support, it changes your life."

One area she feels particularly passionate about is the Employee Assistance Fund. By donating through the Hour of Power, she knows she’s directly supporting the people she works with every day. "I love giving to the Employee Emergency Fund because it truly serves the people I see daily," she says. Knowing her colleagues' personal struggles makes the act of giving even more meaningful.

In her words, giving is about more than just money—it’s about making a lasting difference in the lives of those around her, creating a legacy of compassion, and fulfilling the mission of AGCH to care for its community in every possible way. Through employee giving, she and others are rolling into generosity, one small act at a time.

No matter how - or how much - you choose to give, your support demonstrates a commitment to the future of Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, the wellbeing of our community and Humankindness.
