Cancer Care Fund
As a concerned advocate for cancer patients in our community, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation created the Cancer Care Fund. The Cancer Care Fund provides local cancer patients and survivors with the financial and emotional assistance they need to remove unnecessary stress that could diminish their health.
In 2023, $55,141 was used to serve a total of 2,278 patients as follows with donations to the Cancer Care Fund:
- 33 Gas Cards
- 20 in Financial Assistance
- 39 in Cancer Support Groups
- 206 Psychosocial Counseling Sessions
- 51 Genetic Counseling Sessions
- 18 Colonoscopy Screenings
- 1,495 Oncology Rehabilitation Participants
- 33 Nutritional Counseling
- 383 Transports
The fund also supports an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, dietician, rehabilitation trainer and transportation coordinator to guide each patient from diagnosis throughout recovery and connect them with any resources they need.
At least 1,460 people are diagnosed with cancer in San Luis Obispo County every year. Early diagnosis and treatment are key in making a full and fast recovery, and that’s why the Cancer Care Fund provides diagnostic screenings, biopsies, genetic counseling and testing, and therapies to those that could not otherwise afford them.
These services are made possible by community support. Each gift to the Cancer Care Fund helps support cancer patients throughout their journey.
